I'm not really sure what happened but I coding something this afternoon and suddenly (fortunately 3 seconds after I hit Ctrl + S which saved my progress) the screen went black and the computer hanged.
By that I mean, I couldn't do anything at all to make it react. The HD access led was always off despite anything I had tried. So I had to force a shut down.

I'm running an AV scan right now. Has this ever happened to you?

Never experienced an issue like this. What programs were running and which OS are you using?

a few times. mostly due to the gpu resetting. but updating the driver generally fixed it.

Yeah, I gave it a few good kicks, and all those problems went away - for good.

My screen on my laptop has black out before, but I just closed and re-opened the laptop and it's was fine again. This would be hard to do if you have a stationary PC though. x)

Yeah it went good after I restarted but it's still weird.
@CO_ol it's much easier to open a desktop rather than a laptop!

I'm pretty sure he means closing the screen/shutting the lid.. whatever you prefer to call it, but maybe he's not.

Yes, that's what I meant. I just couldn't find a good way to type it.

Ah got it. Well I'm not sure what would have happened since closing the lid should put it into sleep.
